Repairs are identified and carried out promptly and efficiently, to minimize off-hire periods and ensure the safe operation of the vessel.
Our purchasing team ensures that procurement of stores and spare parts is undertaken effectively to meet the high-quality fleet requirements while managing associated costs.
SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT
One of the best ways we can provide our customers with the highest level of service is through a well-maintained fleet operated by experienced officers and crews. We are committed to a philosophy of continual improvement throughout ship and office operations and providing our mariners a safe, high quality place to work in an environment where they can thrive professionally. Our safety and compliance culture continues to grow within our fleet, a reflection of the leadership and commitment displayed every day by our senior officers and office staff.
Environmental stewardship is integral to Moderna's corporate culture, fleet operations and safety management system. We seek to comply with all applicable rules and regulations and where possible in some environmental programs and procedures, to exceed the required standards of compliance. As a responsible company, we acknowledge the worldwide concern about atmospheric pollution. We are committed to reducing the environmental impact of our operations at sea, land and air. Moderna's environmental risk management program, policies and procedures are centred on waste, emissions and water management, reducing energy consumption, recycling and meeting or exceeding compliance with regulatory requirements.
Through emergency response drills and exercises, we strive to ensure both sea and shore staff are properly trained and prepared in environmental incident reporting procedures, activation of the Company's emergency response plans and compliance with all international laws and regulations. The Company conducts regular fleet drills and fleet management office drills.
Seafarer training and education is an important component of our safety and environmental program. Training leads to increased competence and retention, which, in turn, can improve the performance of our seafarers, increase productivity and reduce accidents, incidents and casualties.
Our officers and crew receive training through accredited training facilities. Officer conferences are held bi-annually, providing an effective means for training on Company policies and procedures as well as sharing best practices and areas for improvement. This approach enables our mariners to enhance their skills and to pursue a long-term career with the Company. We endeavour to provide comprehensive education and training programs so that our sea staff can meet statutory and mandatory training requirements and have the opportunity to advance their careers.
